“I love you, too.”
“I know you’ve got a contract with Fantasy Publishing for some more of those Gillian Shelby books, but I want you to start shopping Another Love around. I’ve done some work for a couple of the big publishing houses and can probably open some doors. Book’s too good and you’re too talented to be wasted.”
“Uh-huh,” she agreed, between yawns. Chuckling to herself, Elgin remembered the book she’d started out to write and how much more wonderful the reality had turned out to be than the fantasy. Oh well, Sheila would just have to settle for something else. She was not about to share even a fictional Campbell Harm with anyone. Gillian’s fans would just have to be satisfied with her imagination. Of course, with the kind of inspiration she now had, that might turn out to be very hot indeed.
“I want to find a townhouse for us as soon as possible. Your condo’s all right for now and certainly better than my bachelor pad, but after we’re married, we’ll both want to stay in the city because of our careers and a condo is just no place to raise kids. Need room to spread out. And a backyard.”
“Uh-huh.” She could barely keep her eyes open.
“And while you’ll always be an equal partner in this relationship and I want you to continue your career even after we have kids, I’m still old fashioned enough to believe that a man should wear the pants in the family. You know, Harm’s Way.”
Hmmm.
Mr. and Mrs. Campbell Alexander Harm?
Mr. and Mrs. C.A. Harm?
Campbell and Elgin Harm?
Camp and Ellie Harm?
Mrs. Elgin Collier Harm?
She smiled slightly.
“Yes, dear,” Elgin answered softly, reaching over to kiss him good night. “From now on, it will always be Harms’ Way.”
About the author
Liz began her career at age three when she started telling her own stories to her dolls and favorite stuffed bear. Her older sister taught her to write at six so she immediately began writing down her stories and reading them to her family. At seven, she decided to become a writer. She won several creative-writing contests in grammar school and by the time she'd moved on to high school, she was working on the school newspaper and had a "lending library" of her popular stories that circulated amongst her peers. Her first paying writing job was in her teens working for the local newspaper, interviewing celebrities who appeared at the local theater-in-the-round.
Liz married, had children, and took a "real" job while she went to college at night, finally earning her degree in Business but never giving up her writing. During this time, she continued to learn her craft and hone her skills. Five years ago, she decided to devote herself to writing seriously. In that time, she's had several short stories published and finished four novels. Her work ranges over several genres from romance to the paranormal.
