I could feel the smile that crossed Jett’s face from my confession.
“Fuck, you’re so cute,” he said while pressing a kiss below my ear. “That turns this black heart a little more pure, hearing things like that.”
“You don’t have a black heart, Jett. You have such a warm heart, it’s just a little scratched right now but it can get better. If you let me in, I would love to help heal it.”
Breathing deeply, he said, “I would like that, little one.”
My heart tripled in speed as he wrapped around me tighter and held on to me as though if he let go then I would float away forever. His lips pressed against my ear and he spoke softly.
“I’m getting lost in you Goldie and it terrifies me. You broke down a wall that I wasn’t willing to let go and you did it so easily.” He took a deep breath and continued, still speaking softly. “I can’t stand the idea of losing you now.”
“You’re not going to.” I turned my head to look at him but he kept my head forward.
“I want you to know that I would do anything to keep you safe, to keep you out of trouble. I live in a world where anything can happen and I want you to know that no matter what, I will always protect you. Always.”
His cryptic message was slightly disturbing because it sounded like something you said before you broke up with someone but I chose to ignore that. There was no way he was going to do that because of the way he clung on to me right now, the way he spoke softly into my ear and sent shivers up my spine. He was opening up and it wasn’t very often that he did that.
“You’re always doing the protecting, do you ever let someone protect you?” I asked as I leaned back farther into his chest and looked up at him.
He kissed my lips and said, “Yes, right now, I’m letting you protect my fragile heart. All I ask is that you take care of it, little one.”
The wind was knocked out of me from his confession. He trusted me enough to admit such a sensitive thing to me that I didn’t even know how to respond. I would never do anything to hurt Jett, ever. He saved me when I needed saving, he took care of me when no one else would and he gave me the warm affection that I needed so desperately in my life. If anything happened between us, it was going to be his doing because I wasn’t going anywhere.
“I will treat it as if it’s my own, Jett.”
“That’s all I can ask for.”
He kissed me again and we spent the rest of the night, holding each other and enjoying the soft silence that settled between us. We didn’t have to talk anymore, we understood each other.
Chapter Eighteen
“Grenade”
Jett
“Jesus, this thong is really riding up my ass,” Goldie said as she lifted off the limo seat and started digging around her backside. “I can’t seem to get a good grip. You know, you could order some underwear with just a tad more fabric. How would you like to wear fishing line up your ass all day?”
Shaking my head and smiling to myself, I watched her lift her gold floor-length gown up to her waist and reach behind where she found her thong.
“Sweet nipples, that feels good,” she said as she pulled out her thong. “You have no clue what it’s like to be a woman, the pain we go through to get a boner out of you.”
“You don’t have to do much, little one,” I responded as I shifted in place. Her underwear hunting left her gown up around her waist, giving me an amazing view of her lower half which only led to my dick wanting to play. It was so easy when it came to Goldie, she really didn’t have to do much.
Her head turned to my crotch and her eyes lit up as she looked up at me.
“My, oh my, where did that little guy come from?”
“You know damn well it’s not little.”
She placed her finger to her chin and contemplated for a second. “You know, I can’t really remember. You should whip it out so I can refresh my memory.”
“Nice try.” I adjusted my pants. “We are almost there. Now put your dress down before the driver comes to open our door and sees something that’s only meant for my eyes.”
Being the vixen she was, she leaned over and pressed her palm against my crotch, making me shift back in my seat and take a deep breath from her brazenness.
“Do you really want to leave me hanging like this?”
“Like what?” I asked as her breath tickled my neck. She didn’t kiss me, she just nuzzled me with her nose, sending chills down my neck.
“Like this.” She grabbed my hand and put it inside her thong. She was drenching. My eyes rose in surprise as I looked down at her. She pressed my fingers inside her slick folds and hummed in my ear. “I need you, Jett.”
I wanted to give her everything she ever wanted but I knew I couldn’t this time. We were so close to the event and we were already late because I found her naked in her bathroom getting ready and I had to take her right then and there, up against the mirror. Her moans rang through my ears as I drove deep inside her. It was erotic, it was sexy as hell and I still wasn’t satisfied. I couldn’t get enough of her once I gave myself over to her.
Cupping her chin, I brushed a kiss against her lips and said, “I want nothing more than to bury my fingers deep inside that sweet pussy of yours but we are almost at the venue. If we weren’t already late, I would ask the driver to circle the block but I can’t.”
Disappointment fell over her features as she started to push down her dress. My heart split in two from the look she was giving me.
“Please don’t think this means I don’t want you because fuck, I want you so bad.” I pressed her hand against my throbbing erection. “I want you more than anything.”
“I know,” she said and then shook her head to clear her thoughts. She puffed her chest and cleared her throat. “Okay, sorry. I can just get carried away sometimes.”
Needing to show her how much she means to me, I pinned her against the side of the vehicle and took her face in my hands. “When you get carried away, sometimes I feel like I’m the luckiest guy in the world. I look forward to when you get carried away, I just can’t right now. I’m sorry, Goldie.”
“It’s okay, Jett. I understand.”
I nodded my head and kissed her lips, lightly. I wasn’t into kissing, ever, that was until Goldie came along. It was like her lips were magnets and my lips were metal, I couldn’t stay away now that I had a taste.
The car pulled to a stop and I looked out the window, we were here. The Hopkins Social was one of the biggest socials of the year. It was to raise money for women’s shelters, something I felt strongly about especially since my mom stayed in one for a while. I did whatever I could to help out the shelters around the city because they not only gave people a second chance but they saved lives. When my mom was first thrown out on the streets by my heartless father, after she gave birth to me, she had no money and nowhere to go. The Hopkins Society helped my mom find a shelter and gave her a place to eat and sleep while she tried to find her way on Bourbon Street.
“Ready?” I asked as I turned back to Goldie who was more gorgeous than ever.
“Ready.” She smiled back at me.
Our driver opened our door and I stepped out first, then offered my arm to Goldie to grab on to. She plastered herself to my body as we walked together up the grand marble stairs of the Hopkins House which was also in the Garden District but farther east than my club.
“Wow, this place is breathtaking,” Goldie whispered under her breath as we walked in the entrance. She turned to me and said, “But not as nice as the club.”
“No need to flatter me, little one. You already have my heart.”
Her eyes lit up from my words and she snuggled in closer.
We walked down the hallway to the main ballroom where the social was taking place. The room was lit up in greens and golds which scattered along the walls and the lighting was dim but still bright enough to see everything. The Hopkins Society always put on a beautiful event and they didn’t disappoint this year.
